In simple language, dont retaliate?
by Manoj M on Jul 09, 2008 06:13 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Thanks MKB. People like you have made India to be the timid nation we have always been. 100s of terrorist attacks later we still call Kashmiri terrorists as militants or separatists not terrorists. We kept hoping against hope that the terrorists would finally get tired of killing us. For people like you our huge population is an advantage where killings can be justified as collateral damage. After USA attacks Afghanistan & war on terror which you claim as hare-brained, have there been any attacks on US? Remember the Israelis who were kidnapped from Kashmir & within 2 days they just walked back? Since then no Israeli tourist has ever been harmed by terrorists. My view is the terrorists only understand the message of violence of greater order. All these terrorists, Naxalites etc need to be given this message. Screw the root cause. If you talk, we can talk, if you commit violence, there will be greater violence against you.

Its good that people like Manoj M are not the decission makers. Do you very naive to compare India to USA. USA is the only superpower in the world! Do you know USA has 600 Billion dollars of defence budget. NATO excluding USA has another 200 Billion dollars. What is Indias Defence budget 26 Billion. You still want to compare India to USA. see the facts dude before you make any statements.

so how come with the paltry budget India has a bigger army than US? Do the Indian soldiers get paid in dollars? Ever heard of purchasing power parity? The percentage amount of defence budget spent by India & US on manpower are not too different. It's the will India lacks. So why did you miss my comment on Israel? It might be a more appropriate comparison?

Let me give you some more statistics to make my point clear. India spends approx 10 Billion on salaries. So it spends 16 Bill on maintainance and purchase of weapons. USA spends 120 Bill on salaries and around 450 Bill on maintainance and purchase of new weapons.

India buys most of its weapons from developed countries. Therefore we dont get the benefits of Purchasin Power parity in the international arms market.
-------------------------------------------
My point is what big difference will India make in Afghanistan by getting invovled Militarily when USA and Nato are already there?
-----------------------------------------
Isreal... who is the Isreal fighting with? Hizbolla. The jerks think that they can win against Isreal by firing Kasam rockets! besides Isreal has full backing of USA. If any country (e.x. Iran)attacks Isreal then USA enters the war. Thats not the case for India. So its not right to compare India with Isreal.
