The forum does not discuss why we need this deal keeping long term benefits in mind. India has hostile neighbours. Pak, Chin, Bangladesh etc all are united. They have become very powerful economically and militarily. It is hardly now impossible that a war jointly by atleast china and pak may happen sooner than later. China's economic might will ensure that pak and bangladesh will be helped like us and ussr did in the middle east thereby crippling india for ever. they have succeeded in nepal this way. india is just a few years away. the middle east hostory shows that aligning with one of the powers wil always help in deterring countries like china etc. israel successfully first used france, then usa to diplomatically win over arabs. and militarily they succeeded in developing their own deterrence and offense. India is just doing the same and we have no other option going forward. the future will be again be bipolar with usa and china as the two superpowers. it is time every indian realised this.
Further, people who are complaining about pm focussing on inflation than nuclear deal do not realise that inflation is a short term issue. in long term, fuel costs will increase the inflation always since fuel is less in earth. nuclear energy will help reduce our energy needs thereby scope of inflation. further, arab countries are or will be anyways inimical to india when china and pak appears. usa would only the power to control fuel prices in future. it therefore makes sense

your comment seemed very realistic to me.. some people cry that congress has taken our pride down.. i laugh at them, bcoz the prob with many of us is that we dont try to see the reality.. do those people think that after fighting and loosing to china our pride will fly high?? comeon guys, you have to survive first before trying to flaunt your so called "pride" in front of others.. try to be realistic..

congress has taken india to the lowest level of dignity. they are the real traitor in country. this deal is just about making money. this is so anti-india. 13 out of 24 nuclear plan in india will come under UN radar once this deal is approved. Congress is real gadddar party of india.

How does Plants coming in UN radar equate to hurt pride?
DO you know we are a nation in debt? DO you know bulk of much of what we have built was funded externally? What is your feeling about the projects that are funded by World Bank or other foreign institutions who govern how the project is built and how the spending is used? Do you feel ashamed of that too, since these are 'foreign inspectors on our soil' meddling on what we build? Is it shameful? Then you should be ashamed of significant amount of infrastructure projects built in India since Independence that were funded and inspected. What does that do to your 'pride'?
Why because it is a business ethical norm that the Supplier ensures that you use the money and resources suplied to you for the purpose you bought it for. Oh, they shouldnt care how and what we use it for ? WRONG! We dont get the resources then. That applies to anything including Nuclear material.
This deal is a smart deal and carefully crafted. It is not a blunt level of handshake and sellout. THis is a complex achevement of doplomacy and technical skills. India would have been proud if we had gone through this deal of showing that we have grown.
