In simple terms
the proponents say that this deal allows India to get uranium, dual use items from the other countries to build nuclear plants. This deal would improve India-US relations.

The opponents say
1. Nuclear power is several times more expensive and unsuitable for India
2. US Hyde act prevents sale of dual use items and uranium supply can be halted any time with any excuse
3. It compromises India's nuclear deterrance
4. India does not need this deal to have good relations with US
5. Nuclear plants take decades to build.
6. There will be western spies in India's nuclear labs and plants.
7. There is no consensus on nuclear deal
8. Undue haste makes everybody ssupicious
9. People don't trust Bush/MMS/Sonia
