Let's not fight over politics or parties as we all agree that national interest is bigger than all. Let's see this deal beyond who supports and opposes it and rather judge it on its merit. Why is Congress Government not discuss this in Parliament and address all concerns? Why should it rush into it?
This nuclear deal is certainly not clean and comes with lot of strings. US is a master tactician and it always gains lion's share of any deal. It certainly hopes to make India one of its "allies", just how it has screwed so many countries.
Look at Pakistan: US has BIG say in its internal affairs now. Do we want US to dictate India too in future?
Also, Nuclear deal isn't the only issue but the whole US-India next level strategic alliance. What happend to our NAM? Do we want India to be waging US' wars on other countries?
Let India be proud and independent country, not have any unholy alliance with anyone: Be it US or China.

yaeh i agree it could lead to some sort of stategic partnership between india and USA , still France and Russia are supporting this deal because this deal is in every ones interest , India need lot of energy to develop and maintain itself so we need alternate source of energy to divert the pressure away from fossil fuel. secondly it will take india to world stage if there is some thing in deal that is does not suite we need we can get it amended when we are in position dictate , just like we did with sanctions after the nuclear test in 1998. If you say any thing about NAM , it was organisation of weaker nations thats why it never managed to influence any decision at world level. if we want to play role at world level we have to make some decision, bold one's. look at china and russia they was enemies at the height of cold war but now they are allies. I dont see any thing wrong in it if India is tilting towards USA. becuse we lost our closest ally russia to chinsa .there is nothing untouchable ,sacred ,holly or unholly, it is survival of fittest we need to make india fit.

Agreed, nuclear energy is very important but we oppostion is not against nuclear energy itself but the way currently it is being done: with 123 agreement and Hyde act involved.
Let's just talk about merits and demerits of the deal and the strategic alliance. This deal comes with lot of baggage.
India has to change its foriegn policy stand even before the deal was signed: "Voting against Iran in nuclear security issue". US congressman and Senator openly warned India to vote againt Iran if we want the deal to complete. This is atrocious; these petty politicians threatening our great nation.
Also, India has no enmity against Iran. Actually, we have had very good relationship with them. Iran is the only country which kind of vetoed the resolution, moved by pakistan, condemning India in OIC [organuzation of Islamic countires conf] some 20 years ago. It even gave permission for India to use its airspace and land incase of war with Pakistan. why should we vote against a friend?
This is just the beginning and we will lose much more than what we gain from this alliance.
