Coalition ruling is increasingly becoming a pehnomenon in Indian politics - A symbol of how fragmented we have become. In wake of the recent dirty politics that surround coalition politics, it is time that some Consitutional ammendments are made to put conditions and penalty to wihdrawing of support and causing mid term elections. The reckless burden on citizens needs to be more controlled and defined as opposed to notional ideas of parties about what is deal breaking of common minimum programme and whats not.
Any ruling coalition should be committed to five years by law and bring more stability to the politics of this country.
Unfortunately the buggers are also the law makers and they will never vote for such an ammendment! Catch 22!

But, no political party will vote for such an amendment. We must have to live with it.
Even better would be the presidential system of government. Here, irrespective of the strength of the Parties in Parliament, threat of destabilisation will never come. And automatically, smaller parties, including regional parties, would wane away from national politics.
Even here, no parties will vote for it. When Indira Gandhi could not do it, no one else can do it in near future, at least.
