comrades on a mission
by bobby joseph on Jul 07, 2008 02:53 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Our Indian comrades in India feel that US imperialism will impinge on our conduct of independent foreign policy. May be our commissars, political featherweights at the best are mistaking us for a banana republic and are still living in cold war mindset. They are unmindful of the fact that USSR has disintegrated and China is the biggest beneficiary of America. Even Vietnam is doing a roaring business with the US.

In the last 60 years of Independence the great ugly America is our biggest trading partner. The maximum FDI in India is again from US. More than a million Indians have settled down in US and are being counted as well healed community with big purse strings there. Thousands of Indian Students head for America every year for higher studies. By contrast hardly any Indian has settled down in China or Russia and not very many students go there for higher studies. So whether our armchair comrades like it or not, people to people contact between US and India, the two great democracies, has picked up its own momentum that no sloganeering can reverse.
