The picture is foggier than ever

In this whole game of politics, the rationale behind the nuclear deal has been sidelined. Manmohan Singh, inspite of his good reputation, has not been truthful to the nation on this issue. He has neither convinced nuclear scientists, nor defence experts, nor even the common man. The nuclear energy cry given recently is, put simply, rubbish. I do not support our Reds, but I definitely do not support India being dictated terms by the US, which has the least concern for the truth or relationships.

The problem is we always beat around the bush and go on a tangent and in the process lose the main thrust. With NPT and the avowed disarmament policy if a condition is put that in the event of your testing a weapon supplies would be stopped, what is wrong in it? Where are you going to get the supplies but for the deal? Why one should take a hypothetical stand that it puts a stop to your weaponisation programme? You are supposed to have standardised your weapons and no more testing is required. You need to steeply increase your energy production with your energy requirements increasing by leaps and bounds with your growth. Your nuclears plants are starved of fuel. In the circumstances where is the threat to your sovereignity or that US is dictating terms. In the given circumstances, any country would stipulate the same condition. It only reminds me of a saying that aunt would become chacha if she develops a mustache. God Help Us.!!!
