Nuclear deal is not panacea for the country
by Ram Sharma on Jul 01, 2008 05:30 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Nuclear deal is not panacea for the country. Though it must b very lucrative for USA, bcz of which it has been constantly pressing our govt to sign it. Sonia, through MMS has probably raised the pitch on this issue to distract people's attention from the alarming inflationary situation. We should sign it only if Hyde act is made non applicable to it.

Why the govt is not showing the full draft of the deal to its supporting allies and the opposition BJP? What is it hiding?

The main problem of the country is inflation, which is the result of many factors, including galloping population. We must follow the Chinese model of one child norm to control it. We hv only 2.4% of world's land but 16% of its population and still increasing. Moreover we must try to reduce energy consumption by practicing simple living as shown by Gandhiji, Kabir Das etc.

As regards the present govt, it does not hv people's mandate and is just the result of post poll opportunistic alliance of enemies. Congress & left don't see eye to eye in WB, Keral & Tripura; DMK was earlier denounced by Congress as sympathiser of Rajiv killers; Sharad Pawar was ousted as he dared to raise the question of Sonia's foreign origin in a dynastic party etc. In a coalition u cannot take unilateral decision. BJP did not go for uniform civil code (supported by SC as well), removal of article 370 & Ram mandir due to coalition, while ruling as NDA.

So you agree, when mandate is for a coalition, these things happen.

At least the UPA-Left coalition problem cropped up at the end of 4 1/2 yrs. This is far better than NDA who put up regular soap operas - Maya, Jaya, Mamta etc tantrums, leaving, rejoining, leaving again for very trivial reasons
