by Birju on Jan 31, 2008 08:15 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

This subject is really blown out of proportions by the Media, till now not a single person has got affected by Bird Flu in West Bengal so far leave alone deaths. Why such a hue and cry over bird flu, are we so big animal lovers??? Actually media is so hungry for TRP every mole hill is shown as a mountain, be it Rizwan, Burrabazar fire and now Bird Flu ...media says 'Yeah Dil Mange More'

dear friend,
If no people have died, thank god... but if it starts affecting people, only god can help.. There is no known treatment for this virus (like HIV virus or ebola). It is dreadly since it spread through air just like plague..

So friend , it is always better to take prevention and thus this caution...!!!!

Even if it is blown out of proportions, it is good for the country. Till now the virus has not mutated into a form that can transmit from human to human. God forbid, if that happens, it will be a pandemic in which thousands of people would be diseased. It is really essential to be on toes and control the spread as quickly as possible.

Well sensible observation in the 2nd part but, now it is not at all good for the country it is really killing lot of poultry farmers who are losing heavily due to the rumour only, though it is well known bird flu virus dies at 70 deg C still peole are reluctant to take chicken due to some baseless fear - that is definitely not good for the country!

I do not agree fully with you. Even if bird flu virus dies at 70 deg C, it does not prevent the spread of virus and/or mutation of virus from infected chicken who are alive. Only after cooking them, the virus is killed. The only fear is that the virus can mutate. There are now two choices - protect chicken so that the livelihood of their owners remains intact and have a human pandemic ; or kill chicken and prevent the occurance of pandemic.
