Indo-US Nuclear Deal should go ahead
by jamsheed abumohammed on Jan 19, 2008 03:00 PM   Permalink

Whether Burn is there or not, the N-deal should go ahead in the interest of India. The energy needs of the country is increasing with the increase demand from the ever gallopping population. The govt has done well in agreeing for the agreement. But every skeptic Communists have thrown spanner in the wheel of the agreement. But then a decent look into the agreement will remove all fears of the leftists. India is not going to mortgage its sovereignity or freedom through this agreement. If the deal is not gone through, India will lose its credibility. It is better for the Govt to go ahead with the deal unmindful of the danger of govt falling on the issue. This issue is worth sacrificing the govt as it is in the interest of the public at large, Govt have inked the deal. If Communists threaten to withdraw the support, let them do so, govt will not fall as other parties will support on the issue, if explained to them. Even if the election is thrust upon the Congress on this issue, Congress is bound to win the elections handsomely and the losers will be BJP and Communists. It is therefore advisable to go ahead with the deal, whether Burn is there or not. Individual will make no difference, it is the foresightedness of the Govt that will make the difference. If this is done,People will hail it as a victory as a landmark move and its benefit will reach everyone particularly energy starving states including Delhi,UP and Bihar and down to south. The deal should go on,its public opionion
