I have seen several Jallikattu when I was young and all I can say is, it is one crazy sport. I understand the emotions when people say it has been practiced for centuries. But thats what our culture is all about - owing to change based on critical judgements. A lot of people talk about the torture of the cows, in addition to that (perhaps more important) is the injuries to the lads going out there. Moreover, they have raised the prize money in recent years and it only serves to drive the madness. I fully support Supreme court ruling and Pongal is not all about Jallikattu. There are other exciting and traditional sports like Poll Climbing, Uriyadi, etc which are practiced in many villages in TN during Pongal.
