Horrible Horrible state of affairs.DRDO functions like most government office in India.Red tape corruption reservations..you name it.India's defence contracts should be given to private players which are more efficient and result driven.Such a useless pathetic organization like the DRDO should be immediately scrapped or else the whole country will have to pay a heavy price.

how many of us know that NASA failed on numerous occasion before launching its first spacecraft. How many of us know that Lockheed(Current manufacturer of F-15) has design problem which led to mid air disintegration of its fighter jet.TATA Indica car launched in 1997 had so many defect..but tatas took it as a challenge and overcome many of them.We certainly cannot compare CAR with ROCKETs..but a lesson learnt..NEVER GIVE UP.Western countries have money to spend on R&D..does anyone know that NASA scientist where warned before challenger space shuttle was launched in 1986.It exploded in mid air minutes after the launch. You have many ups and downs my dear in any given technology. Its the attitude "NEVER GIVE UP" which matters.DRDO is doing a good job..looking at the constraints they have.

But why do they need to work on all products at once. Can not they master in just one and two items and get rest of products in barter.

More horrible is the government who expects a kickback for everything. Please don't say DRDO is well funded, they have next to no funding in my opinion, since we can spend outlandishly on foriegn equipment like Bofors, and t-90 but never get the technology which was promised for it.
Further these people don't know any histroy, let us give example Falkland war British got the code to disable the antiship missile from the french, from the French because French side with British. Now this can be the case with all missile bought by foriegn depending on which side of the fence you sit your missiles can be rendered harmless.
DRDO is doing a great job, but these corrupt people in government want Kickback without which they feel unhappy and give all sorts of unfounded gali to DRDO

Whether NASA failed or not is irrelevant. Today the Pakis have an indigenously developed fighter (called JF-17 Thunder) while we are still waiting on Tejas and some how keeping those MiG-21s alive at geat cost of money and human life. It matters little which one has better specs on paper. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Should we have a a military confrontation of a larger scale tomorrow with anyone, be it country or terrorist organization, our young men and women will bleed while the Babus of the Raksha Mantralaya will continue to eat mithai purchased from the money sucked out of coffin for our soldiers.

NEVER GIVE UP is a good slogan for countries having lot of resources, such as USA as you mentioned. Countries like India with limited resources and budget from basically taxpayers money can not afford to ave a program which has no limited time frame. You should also consider the fact that when USA was developing first mission to space, the technology was new, except Russia no country knew how to do that. It was a priority and country's pride for USA to develop indigenous technology to beat Russia. At this moment, there is no such competition. All other countries already have such missiles and there is absolutely no need to re-invent the wheel at the expense of taxpayers money.

hi sudip, but dont you think "DRDO is doing a good job..looking at the constraints they have".Lets not blame DRDO..its the system built around DRDO :-( .Every company has crooks "What happened to ENRON?, Many MNC Financial Institutions, like CITI, JP Morgan etc.were involved in the SCAM".Corruption is everywhere, the difference being getting punished, which sadly never happens in INDIA. Its not about re-inventing wheels..do you know India is the first country to test with Solid Fuels in the rockets."Never give up" attitude applies in all the field irrespective of FUNDS. Without this attitude the world would have been a different place
