Thus far we have been widely led to believe by all media how successful IGMPD was and how 'indigenous' is the way to go.
However Bharat Verma is hitting facts, and I doubt he would make tall claims w/o research on his side. If all he is saying is true then -
1. How come it took such a long time to figure out that IGMPD was deviating from its focus? 2. How come no one ever told us that some of these arsenal failed the Army during the Kargil war? 3. While I applaud whoever finally made the decision (Defence minister/ministry perhaps) to shelve the IGMPD.....how come the previous ministry/(ies) never checked this?
Indeed eye opening. These defence systems are crucial to winning any war.....you need to have advantage over your enemy in these systems.

It is painful, how the media is irresponsible in India. The Indian express article with the caption "IGMDP scrapped", is the height of negative journalism. If you read the article fully, it is clear that except for the Trishul, all the four projects of the IGMDP are successess, may not be interms of the time taken, as originally claimed , but certainly in terms of the technology. India can proundly say that we have the indegenous technology for such state of art missiles. PRITHVI has been delivered to the army, and it is in their arsenal strength. Dhanush, is accepted by the navy, AGNI I is delivered in numbers to the army. AGNI II is also accepted and AGNI III is proved successfully after the initial first flight failure. The success of NAG has been witnessed by all the service personal wherein the missile has proved in the day as well as the night version by hitting the bulls eye. AKASH has recently proved successfull. The recent bullet hitting bullet was witnessed by many journalists which is an advanced air defence. Now, this speaks of the technological strengths of the DRDO. It certainly appears the handywork of certain vested interests who do not like the growth and successes of DRDO, may be DRDO's success may not be in the interest of the import lobby. In all fairness to the thousands of hard working dedicated scientists who have not ditched the country for greener software pastures, journalism needs to be positive and more encouraging.even if we have to buy we have to

Dear Fren(s), Don't just see one side of the coin and say its all Gandhiji :) Everybody knows how result oriented DRDO is. Dear frens, we lost precious years under British Raj (Which robbed of our scientific potential), and unlike Japan and Germany, the western nations tried to contain us (They dint want another big adversary like Russia). We tested nukes, and the NPT came up. We tested missiles and MTCR came up. Should we go and beg to this nations for technologies (And gulp those bribe bottles like dogs)? Where is our self belief? Where is our determination? DRDO has always performed much better than any defence research organizations. US and Russians stole British and German technologies. Chinese reverse engineered Russian technology. Pakis repainted Chineese technologies from red to green. But India thanks to DRDO, is at top three in terms of missile technology. How many of us here are aware that with 400 KG payload ( Double the weight of Indian nuclear city buster), Agni 3 can hit targets 12K Kilometers away? Its not that DRDO dint, but a spineless govt headed by a useless PM (Puppet minister) and a Prez who only knows to worship the pizza munching goddess (PBUH). Mr. Commander, if you think patriotism comes only in inebriated condition, I am sorry to say sir, I pity ppl like you. Please clear one doubt, are you from Pak/China or Italy? This dumb witted SDRE Yindoostani is not able to find it out :(

Hi.Jagadeeshanji,I agree with u these stupid Journos in Indian ELM have neither he sense nor the capacity for research and learning the subject b4 they open their mouth and start pontificating They all are self appointed experts who cant spell expertise!The trouble is we as a nation have always been 'Hyphenated' with Pakiland and bangladesh for our sins! The US has denied us technology till very recently some times at the beheast of their darling proteges namely their client states! pakistan and china have a different agenda which is basically 'Hate/Bleed India' and Pakistan also adds jihadi terrorism' to keep India contained! They have been remarkably successful due to our fifth columnist media ( remember Shekhar Gupta from IE!!) and moronic paki loving candle wavers ( Read ppl of Mahesh Bhatt and bollywood sirens bcos they only want an additional market for their trash cans and item songs!NO ONE actually has any objectivity in their thoughts bcos No one can negotiate ANY deals from a position of weakness! The only reason the west wants to fund our weapons research is due to success of Dhruv helicopters and Brahmos missiles, and our rising economic power!Also our Dollar reserves is not due to american largasse or funded by US congress as it is in the case of Pakiland!
