Competition
by Jagan on Jan 10, 2008 05:01 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Brahmins r just 2-3%, But they occupied almost
85-90% of higher Govt posts & colleges.

Even with 65% reaervaion against them they r attaining
higher post some times.

If there is no reservation, then all govt office will be like
NASA, Where almost 10% are brahmins against competion
from all over the world.

One Ambedkar, one Dr. Kalam, one Azim Premji are sufficient to say that if there is a will to succeed there is way.

No one can choose his or her parents or caste or religion. What we can definitely change is our economic status by dint of hard work. At times there may be some need of support. But most of those who succeed are those who helped themselves and did not fear failure.

As a person by some unluck or by fate born in a caste classified as the other caste by the Indian government I dont have any rights to equal opportunity in India .I have never ill treated any one and have always loved my country and its country men .I am denied my chance at a fair go for the past 60 years the government has not taken any step to eradicate caste system or tell me when are they going to undo the system which means for another 1000 generation to follow me will have to go through the rest.Tell me what should i do .

Forget 1000 generations! If there is no reservation in govt jobs then Brahmins will
easily pass all the technical exams & get the higher posts. then what about non-brahmins!
They have to work as lavourers allways?

Sunshine,,
That is called hardwork and merit which lifts people and makes them eliegible for better things. Not reservations. Instead of begging for reservations, get your finger out and get working at it.

If brahmins were all great and just they wouldn't have created a society where millions were treated inhumanly hard work and merit alone give you upliftment you need more than that in India however hard you work how ever intelligent you are if you come from poor economic background like a slum or a small tribal village your struggle is double the government should give reservation to this poor souls so they and their future generation can have a beeter life

how can govt eradicate caste system? caste system is a social problem... IF u r from the 'forward caste', even if reservation is removed, will ur parents agree to ur marrying a lower caste person? Reservation is not intended to address social problems like caste system (even though politicians claim otherwise).. It's only an economic system, so it will have no impact on caste system

Always in history only the poor are affected the rich never care a poor brahmin and a poor dalit are the same .Reservation should be based on economics and not caste.I can understand if they give reservation to poor people in a certain community .Does anyone of us think that reservation has seriously helped tribals in MP and orissa its only the upper level of the caste that gets the advantage.i am happy to marry any one from any caste but my parents has got serious reservations but i can assure you my friend that i wouldn't do the same with my kid for i belong to the enlightened Indian generation.

Anyways, my pt was just that caste system is a social ill and no amount of govt intervention can 'solve' it... As for who needs to benefit from reservation, I agree with you... But then 'meaningfully' identifying the right people is hard work for governments, mate! So practically it's difficult to bring in that level of sophistication in the approach of the parliament... Judiciary may be more capable of something like that!

A truly meritorious student competes with himself and not with others.
