We are slowly becoming truely democratic. Only a country with genuine freedom of speech allows the assasin of the father of the nation to say his side of the story. I saw a small play about Nathuram Godse. And I am not a Godse or RSS fan. So my views are neutral.
Apparently, many people only know him as Gandhi killer. Many people dont know that he had tremendous respect for Gandhi as a person. However he totally disagreed with Gandhi's political views. Godse thought that Gandhi's larger than nation figure was against the national interest. Splitting up of the nation based on religion was one example. Before he fired the shot, he bowed and paid his respect to Gandhi. He did not blow a bomb killing innocents. Instead of trying to evade arrest, he surrendered so as to make a political statement.
The subject of debate is not "Who is the Mahatma?". That is clear. Nor is Godse's method of expressing himself correct. Killing someone is against the law for that he was hanged. A good subject of debate could be "Godse vs Gandhi's political views". Another subject of debate could be "Was Godse's love for his motherland any less than that of Gandhi"
I have seen many non-Hindus and some Hindus bashing RSS on this forum . Infact they think RSS=VHP=BJP. Is KKK=Evangelical Society=Republicans in US ? This is ridiculous. You can disagree with all of them simultaneously. But not for the same reasons. RSS is a nationalist movement whereas VHP is a purely a Hindu organization.

Milind dont waste your time telling christains and muslims this.Look at their replyies they serwer by Gandhi ,but it is they who have and even now most disregard him,they never supported him in the freedom struggle nor do they lishned to him about not parting India on religious ground,neither do they care to know his veiw on conversion.But now they pretend to be gandhi's supporter(read sonia's supports)and blame hindus for ridiculing gandhi's ideals.Whereas the fact is non-violence and non-conversion two important ideals of gandhiji were only sipported by hindus(mainy hardliners)then these christains and muslims.

Mr R Patil, I strongly disagree with ur point of view, who said muslims didnt participated in freedom movement in india. If Mysore Maharaja would hav supported Tippu Sultan that time itself we would hav got the freedom, cos of a Hindu maharaja we became slaves of them, and one more thing there were more number of muslim freedom fighter than hindu fighters cos of politicians their names r not shown, and a true muslim never does thing for namesake. Muslim never wanted separate country for themselves, to prove The worlds biggest madrrasa Darul uloom diuband didnt went pak it is still in MY INDIA. Dnt Ever say A INDIAN MUSLIM AS NOT AN INDIAN....

Man you are preaching to people of a country which is producing only 5% of population with common sense. Illiterate ok you understand, on this board i have seen literate people coming to absurd conclusion. Making assumption based without merrit. Gandhi was great and exemplory human bieng. But off late people are realizing that with age a man's cognitive skill is under duress. Prime example cited off late are US VP dick cheney, Investment maverick warren buffet. I feel the same might have hel true for Gandhi.
