In India these things happen all the time. The cops are there only to provide security to the politicians. Their lives only have value in this cursed of all nations. Ordinary people are exposed to any number of dangers on the road. You get the buffaloes, the traffic, the dogs and even snakes that one needs to look out for when taking a walk on our streets. Man holes are very common. I think if a guy fell into one of these things nobody would even know that a guy was down there. People talk of competing with the developed countries but I think India cannot and never will be like these countries. Having a trillion dollar economy will not make India a great power. We need a govt. and rulers who really care for the welfare of the citizens. Two young women were attacked and molested by 70 people in a public place in Bombay. In the west it is safe for women to even go to the pub for a few drinks.Every year thousands die in stampedes in Sabarimala,kumbhmela and other religious places. Surely vounteers could be recruited to regulate the movement of these pilgrims. Most of the pilgrims are perhaps so illiterate and uneducated that they are difficult to control in places like this.God save India !
