As patriots do not support violence but at the same time look into the plight of the srilankan tamils. How many innocents hace been maccared and women raped over the past two decades. The low morales of the lankan army has prompted the creation of such a violent group like the LTTE.The tamils in cylone at one time were desperately trying to escpe from physical and sexual abuses and resorted to violence as a final stroke. I think LTTE can be tamed if lankan army resorts to a softer approach. My sincere condolences to the IPKF presonals, former PM Rajiv Gandhi,Premadasa,Ranjan wijayarathane and all the slain victims of LTTE.

Yes. The sinhala government unleashed terror on Innocent Tamils and killed many thousand tamils. But that does not mean that Tamils still have to ask for separate land. The war in Srilanka has been happening for more than 2 decades and yet there does not seem to be a solution. One of the reason is that LTTE wants to project themselves as the only representative of Tamils by killing all the Tamil leaders who have different views including Amirthalingam. Now LTTE is losing ground with defeat at every quarter. In the process of projecting their goal of separate home land LTTE ended up losing all the opportunities of peace process. The tamils does not have access to any other source of information about the war except what LTTE gives. Through this process they were successful in brain washing the people to think that war is the only solution.
Of course there exists genuine problem in terms of Job reservation, education and business opportunities for Tamils through official and unofficial means.
But somepoint of time the LTTE have to say let bygones be bygones and think about the future of all the Tamils who survived the war. Instead they can work for higher autonomy for Tamil provinces through negotiation instead of a separate homeland. With strategic location of various ports, abundant natural wealth, proven hard work and skill of Tamils, they can show that they are better than Sinhala people.
Time is running. If they don't act now it will be never.

Very soon there will not be any Tamil Provinces, as the Sinhalas are hell bent on making the idegenous Tamils are powerless minority in the North and East. Immediatley after independence all Tamils in the Chilaw and Puttalam districts were forecibly assimilated as Sinhalas. Only a few Hindu villagers around the Historic Munneswaram temple have withstood this forcible assimilation and now they are Tamil Hindu Island surrounded by their Catholic and Buddhist Sinhla Buddhist cousins. In the East the Tamil HIndus were 70% up to the mid 60's to early 70s now they have bben reduced to around 33% by large scale ethnice cleansing. The Sinhalas wereless than 1% in the east when independence came now due to large scale government sponsored colonisation schemes and large scale ethnic cleansing they are around 33% and are increasing . A new USA trained SInhla general has been appointed by th eSriLankan government to the so called liberated East/. He has been firmly told to make th eEast of Sri Lanka a firm Sinhla majority province. There were plans in the late 80's and early 90's to make the Vanni in the NOrth ( the districts of Vavuniya Mannar and Muulaitivu and parts of Killinochi) a Sinhla majority area by flooding these aras with Sinhlala colonists. BUt the LTTE control of these areas thawrted these plans. You and do not realise ho wmuchthe Tamils have suffered under succesive racist Sinhla governments. The support for LTte amongst eh Tamils is strong and it is the moderates who

like Amirthalingam etc of the TULF who wanted the Seperate state by any means. They won handsomely in the Tamil electorates in the NOrth and East in the 1970s SriLanka was never one country until the British united its Sinhla and Tamil speaking parts in 1833. Prior to the arrival of the Portuguese, The Sinhla and Tamils in the island ruled themselves. The Portuguses and the Dutch ruled the Sinhla and Tamil parts of the countries as seperate colonies. It is much better for the country to be united under a federal set up with genuine equal rights for its minorities that was what the Tamil and other minorities have been asking for the past 60 years, but the Sinhala majority only want the land to be a Sinhla Buddhist country an ddo not want to and still do not want to grant any rights ot the Tamil speaking minority with whom they have shared the land for thousands of years. All peaceful means of protests were ment with violence and laughter and scorn. Many agreements gave beem broken and torn. Even the 1987 Indo Sriolankan Greement has been broken by the Rajapkse government. Yo can see what is in store for the Tamils in what you see in the so called liberated east. Insted of allaying the fears of the Tamils and starting genuine reconciliatin. Around 300000 Tamils have been rendered homeless and are refugees. their lands to be distributed to Sinhala settlers. Place names being changed from Tamil to Sinhala. The Tamil population terrrorrised. This what a enemy victor does to a vanq
