I am from North India settled in Gujrat and having widely travelled in India.

I do find North Indians do have respect for women, situation is very bad in Delhi / Punjab / Haryana / UP / Bihar.

As such these guys go for Durga puja / Vishno devi etc. But that means nothing as far as respect for females is concerned.
