The subject which may look like about general knowledge of people of one country about another ...is basically rooted in much more serious issue of identity of a nation on the international level. The fact is that we are not considered a serious nation...and are always looked down at ...for reasons solely attributed to indians ...noone else.A country is not respected for supply of manpower to USA or any such advance country ,where you are studying due to your parent's occupation etc.Whatever we boast , we are a country mismanaged...to talk of development...if our over 50% population is to bare their bums in open every morning to attend nature's call ...and carrying night soil on head continues ...however you fool people about your progress ...they will not stop making fun at India...too small countries like Korea, new Zealand, Israel,UAE are known by world much much better ...you got to make an image by performance...talk is not enough.

Well..... let's not talk about small countries like NZ, UAE, Korea etc. Smaller countries are easy to govern and secondly, they do seem to have more civic sense than us Indians. Lets face it, even the so called educated folk do not think twice before littering the streets. So, it is up to us to set an example, involve ourselves more in the communities and then rest will follow.....
But on the topic of small countries, what about places like Lebanon, Sierre Leone etc..???

In fact , i meant,World knows nations by their collective performance ...if americans know a little about india...we failed to make mark...the small countries i quoted made a mark in the world so they are known ...not to say that all small countries can make mark...(Korea was a colony of Japan and was compeletely devastated ...unlike India by Britishers who gifted not only consolidated territory...ok...2 parts... but left great institutions like railways, postoffice, military )look at Bangladesh ,Nepal,Srilanka ...all poor as us.And 1% indians abroad do not represent progress of india...this is a huge stupidity among indians ...boasting India shining...if you think yr size is too big to handle...let some of states part away...anyway they are not interested to stay with this union...all said & done...i mean , we are responsible for our mess...can't blame on size, plurality or Imperialism endlessly .

Rajat, I think you are right becuase a couple months ago, I saw a video of Sunita Williams in space. At that time she was apssing over India and she literally said that "look at that elephant and other animals on the road." I was shocked to hear that. I think because of people like her India is unexposed.

Who knows...she must be telling the truth...there is no city ,town or village in india where animals...wild or domestic including cows, buffelows, pountry is banned ...today's satllites & the space station are equipped with ultra hi-resolution camaras which can capture even a rat on the road...that's India ...and my society , school & parents taught me to accept the truth so i will accept it ...may be someday we stop all this non-sence...but to reach there indians have to learn stop lying...will they ???

How do you say, "Small countries are easy to manage"? Where do you get funds from? How do people see you? How do they recognise your potential to invest their money in. Take singapore, it is growing because of its merit. Take Malaysia, Korea, they could exhibit their potential to the world, through leadership in technology and building brands and names people trust. Few years back, their forex reserves were multiple times, better than that of India.
