Rama Setu
by Suresh Bhave on Feb 28, 2008 04:14 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

The sethu samudram project is supposed to save Rs 250 crore every year by saving the ships the detour around Sri Lanka. I believe that that sum is too paltry to justify the hurt sentiments of the Hindus. One could easily save much more than that every year by neglecting the innumerable tombs and deripit structures that ASI maintains all over the country. There are thousands of others that are completely neglectd. You require nothing to maintain the Ram Setu. Whether or not it was manmade is a different matter, it is the matter of what we want. I am not a very religoious person but I can understand the the feelings of those who are. The real point in all this is that the government is out to prove to the largest minority community that we co not give a tinker's nickel for the sentiments of the majority community, just watch how we snub them. That might work get UP vote on their side in the forthcoming elections.
