Loan waver is not the solution
by Singh on Feb 28, 2008 03:07 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

More needs to be done than just loan wavers. This will mean encouraging people not to repay the loans. I fully understand the tragedy that people who are feeding us are driven to suicide due to debts.. BUT load waver is not a solution, they need a support system where someone can provide them guidance to make better uses of lands and manage their finances better, I suggest that every panchayat should have access to a finance adviser who can help people make educated decisions. Loans have been wavers so many times by so many state and central governments but problem still remains. We need to strike at the root cause of the problem and not symptoms.

Root cause? Did you ever check the international pricee of wheat & rice compare to India. Forget middle east. Even check the food prices of subcontinent. Say Pakistan India . 3 to 4 time%u2019s difference!!? Farmers in Punjab & Haryana are getting raped. NO wonder a self consiuious farmers instead of becoming beggar are committing suicides. same is happening with farmers in maharstra
