Does anybody on this discussion board know anything about the Kitty Hawk??
It is the oldest aircraft carrier in the US Navy. It was commissioned in 1961 and has been in active service ever since. It is the last of the US carriers that run on steam power (the rest of the fleet are now nuclear).
So should India accept a ship that is 47 years old, even if it is given for free???
Can India afford to maintain & run such an old carrier???
These are the questions that need to be asked rather than needless fights over US slavery or Commie slaver!!!

Currently Indian Navy is on Modernisation Plan but Aircraft carrier Viraat is likely to retire in 2010 and Russian Gorshkov if struck deal will join Navy in 2011 as Per todays Report.India requires atleast 2 Aircraft carrier at any given point of time and if US offers ready Air base platform with F/18 Typhoon then it will be Advantage India for us. Moreover Even if Gorshkov is purchased then Indian Navy strength will be increased like any thing. Right now India requires Atleast 50 New warships or other options is 5 Nuke Subs
