I see many comments here that homosexuality is a 'western' trend. IN FACT, it is the opposition to homosexuality that we see on this forum that is mimicking the west! The abrahamic religions have always had anti-homosexual laws but hinduism does not have ANY such thing in the scriptures. I will challenge ANYONE arguing that homosexuality is western to point out one vedic verse criticizing one's sexuality. One step further, the Kamasutra contains specific sections for gay couples! All this homophobia is a western import - Indian tradition has always been open to people's lifestyles.

Opposition to homosexuality is the mark of Christian and Muslim fundamentalism. Ironically Hindu fundamentalists, who otherwise hate Christian and Muslim fundamentalists will gladly agree with them on the issue of hating gays. Probably because these fundamentalists don't use their brains. Or may be they don't have brains to use at all.

Brother..everyone can make their point. We have freedom for that, unless that doesnt object others sensitives like culture, religion, caste or colour. Now coming back to this topic of homosexuality, the society stays from anything that is not common even if it is good or bad.If someone likes to be homosexual its their wish. But please look at the end result. It leads to a phycological nightmare, isolates one from the society, infected by dangerous diseases and ruins one's life.We are living in a society with little tolerance towards brotherhood and compasion. So If we have a problem its our responsibility to find ways to come out of it because its unfortunate even the family finds it difficult to support these victims. So its better to stay away from these things. It is in this aspect religions ban these activities for nurturing brotherhood and compasion among people. If a doctor is not following the subject he studied then he is the one to be blamed and not the subject. Also only if he is strong in the fundamentals he studied he can do his duty correctly which is good for the society. So please do not blame the religions if you dont follow them stricly.
