Need for uniform civil code in India

If we are talking about the unity in India, we must note some disparities in terms of rights that exist today. People say that people of all religions should have the same rights. But that is far from reality. In India there are different set of Civil Laws for followers of different religions. We have Hindu Civil Law, Muslim Civil Law, Christain Cicil Law and Parsi Civil Law. Is it right thing to treat people differently on the basis of religion? Lets see what it means.

A Muslim man can marry 4 women legally. For others polygamy is a criminal offence.
A Muslim man can divorce his wife by uttering talaq thrice. While for the Hindus divorce is only acceptable as a last resort and the court tries all kinds of avenues to prevent divorce. Why are there different standards of morals for different people?
After divorce a Muslim man is only obliged to support his wife for her 3 lunar months, while women of other religion could get a better deal in terms of alimony.
After a divorce a Muslim women would rarely get the custody of her child. But the women of other religions have better rights in terms of custody of their children.
A Muslim woman inherits only half of the share of a Muslim man. Why is there a discrimination based on religion?
If the father of a Hindu man converts to Islam that person would be deprived from inheriting his father's property as no non Muslim can inherit a Muslim's property. Why such a discrimination based on religion has been allowed by the Law in In

@secularmindedhindu

Ahhhh...refreshing to meet someone who is what they profess to be.

Dont get me wrong buddy, i am neither a supporter or opponent of any political party. I just dont like parties promising something good and not living up to it.

UCC is a great idea and I bet most people want it.....likewise BJP had some very good ideas unfortunately it has not been able to implement them either at state or center.

I wish we had new parties........nice to meet you.

When a Muslim lives in Europe/USA, but can marry only once, he/she is not ceased to be a true muslims.

But in India, we are told, unless Muslims are allowed marry 4 times, they feel they are discriminated.

ALL BECAUSE OF PSUEDO POLITICS, HINDUS ARE DIVIDED. LET BJP RULE INDIA FOR 50 YEARS, MUSLIMS WILL FALL IN LINE.
