1) Quickly aligning with US to fight terror despite knowing ISI and masses will be unhappy
2) Paving way for first genuinely democratic elections in Pakistan
3) Ensuring cultural freedom in Pakistan by allowing modern music and television to flourish
4) Pushing back Talibanisation of Pakistan; only modernising ruler Pakistan has seen in its history
5) Good relations with India despite starting on a negative note of Kargil and Parliament attack
6) Supposed to personally non-corrupt and honest on financial dealings

there is a common tendancy to criticise and hate Musharraf.
However, it is also feared that his successors could be much worse and more dangerous...not only to India but the entire world.
