If one is truely hindu : 1. He understands the purpose of religion is to go inward and not make it a political force. 2. One understands truth has many sides to it, one should take up a path most best suited for himself and will have the common sense to understand that people are different and may chose differently. 3. One does not give centralizing powers which includes Political parties, pseudo religious organizations (RSS, VHP, monkeys (bajrang dals) to which will use you for their own dirty ends. 4. Atleast practices yama and niyama which include tolerance, expansiveness, inclusiveness, truth and above all ahimsa (which is much more than just nonviolence). 5. Does not confine himself to narrowness of cults such as christianity, islam, narrow castes and organized hinduism.
If one is truely secular then one is truely hindu.

Hinduism is the only religion which is continuosly regenerating itself. You can say reinventing itself. All other religions are static exactly where they were started. Hindu religious reforms were explained by many a historian. The truth is that devine beings are continiously taking birth in Hiduism ,influencing not just we Indians but the entire world. Everything that is modern ,in every age,of mecahnical, techinical, rocketery and IT age, every modern concept is absorbed and becomes a part of the old !! a tradition unbelievable. We have today very core, age old, traditional hinduism's most raw form represented by Mata Amritanandamayi and a breathing science or Rekhi etc., represented by Sri Sri Ravishanker. A few years ago we had the modern age's most modern guru called Acharya Rajneesh preaching science of sex which was actually part of the old Tantra and Kundalini. Rajneesh was most modern and yet a part of the oldest myths of Hinduism practised long since by great Tantriks. So is "sudarshana chakra" vidya of Sri Sri Ravishankar who is influencing the whole world of its thought and relgious understanding or pracitce. Not very long ago We had Maharshi Mahesh Yogi who brought out the transcendental meditation technique. Hinduism is ever growing , all encampassing, all knowing highly matured religion which can answer even a perticular individual's problems as well as his thirst for sprituality. All others are only cults , only dogmas, narrow minded beliefs.

"Which one is modern? Use your brain?" Are you saying, that history is completely linear ? Egyptians and Atlanta were far advanced than the Greeks, Greeks were more civilized and intellectual than Romans, Romans were more civilized than the Huns, mankind deteriorated up to 500 AD only then civilization started to grow again. 500 AD was the darkest times ever in human history. They used to stone people for adultery then, eye for an eye was the law at those times. Yes we are modern now and it is time we get out of dark age philosophies.

Hinduism does not make foundations on personalities like islam or christianity. Infact those who base their hinduism on historicity have completely missed the point, yes such hinduism based on historicity is going to be absolete just like islam and christianity. hinduism is about methods of interiorization and all these mythical tales are sending exactly that one message. the Self has not changed though time changes hence even its philosophy of the Self will not change, which is hinduism. As far as majority people converting to islam is concerned, they dont take into account the number who are leaving and not declaring for safety reasons. Moreover, majority mentality has never been wise mentality, on the contrary it has been just the opposite. Stupidity has to fully rise before it ends, that is what is happening to islam.
