I dont understand why people are generalising when they talk about Maharashtra and Maharashtrians. There is some substance what Raj is asking. What is wrong in his saying get into to local culture when you are in Maharashtra. Go to Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal. 95% of the people speak in native language. Here in Mumbai why not others adopt to the local conditions. Remember Karnataka 10 - 15 years back. There is no insistence on Kannada. Taking a leap from Tamil Nadu, now look at Karanakataka and Kannada.
I think the issue is blown up by the media who are out and out to exploit for their own showmanship.
As regards absorbing locals, why not give importance to them. In any case this issue is labour orineted, because skilled jobs, I am sure even Maharashtrians prefer whoever they want and talented.
