You got that wrong, UP has diversity, the Nepali/Mongol/Bengali tribes in Nort-East of UP, the Jat/Rajputs/gujjar and Ahir/Yadavs tribes. By the way Gujjar are akin to Gujrathi tribes. Not to forget the Moghuls/Turks (Agra, Shahjanput, Aligargh).

They would have k*-ill-ed SHivaji if not for the Rajputs deciding that he needs to escape and Jats from Braj(Bharatpur and east Up) partnering with Marathas. Not to forget that lot of Marathis clans are still in north including MP.
By the way, before Moghuls time, the rajputana extended all the way to Bihar.

Correction Braj area is near Rajasthan, Haryana border which is western side of India.

The message was in reference to population of UP. The UP is not just one set of people, it is many tribes and thus it appear big
