Every moment in history throws up a new challen- ge and it is the duty of the duly elected leader , in this case the CM of Maharashtra, to rise to the occasion to meet the challenge squarely & proactively. Unfortunately in Maharashtra, the leadership has completely failed in protecting the interests of the common citizen. The plight of the northerners making a beeline to exit Nasik or Pune is no different from the scenes of African refugees in Sudan or Somalia we see on TV. It is pathetic to see citizens in their own land become refugees. The CM should have acted & proactively called for rapid action force and protected the lives of outsiders with determina- tion. If this hooliganism succeeds in Bombay, where is the guarantee it will not find repeti- tion in other states or directed towards other sects of people staying in Mumbai. Then what is left of India ? If history is not to rate our PM as a sleeping PM, then the Centre should immediately declare Maharashtra as a Union territory so that every one gets an equal chance at opportunities. The only currency that works in the field of global competition is pure merit and skillset and it is high time the Maharashtrians recognized this home truth & prepared for it instead of always seeking softer options. You never get to see this farce of reservations or quota in any other country except India.

Excellent suggestion Does Raj realise each word he has sopken is against the very constitution of india which ensures each citizen is free to move and get employed anywhere within he country?
this is primaraly taking place as these politionions are upto political gimmic.. they want publicity and their excellent partners our media are playing to thier tunes...
India is a free country and every citizen has right of equal employment opporunity.. also no one can restrict anyones movement within the country...

Not Maharashtra it should be only Mumbai as the make up of Mumbai is of various cultures what we would call cosmopolitan city and therefore belongs to all the various races that made it. Its boundaries should extend to Pune at one end and the Gujerat border at the other like Umergaon and going East I will have to check the map but in general a radius of 150 Kms from Hutatma Chowk (Fountain). We would be akin to Goa or Singapore
