The Raj Thakrey drama is mostly about Mumbai. Mumbai is located in Marathi speaking area, hence it is capital of a linguistic state called Maharastra. (Nothing wrong in it). Mumbai was developed from scratch by British colonisers because of port and its strategic location, protected by hillocks and creaks. Parsi (mainly located in near by Gujrati area) was invited by Britishers to become partener in Bombay project. Gujrati traders and sindhi traders (muslims - khoja, shia, bhohras, etc.,) having freindly relation with Parsis were subsequently allowed to settled. After opening of Suez Canal, Bombay (Mumbai) became an important trade centre. The big factories (mills) needed huge labour force. The local marathi speaking fishermen community could not provide enough work force. Migration from adjoining areas including Pune, Surat, Nasik to Mumbai got accelerated. mumbai started attracting Trading community from distant Rajasthan and Saurastra, followed by other distant states, viz., Punjab, UP, Bihar, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and AP after Independence. Almost all big industries shifted their headquarters to Mumbai during the period. Now it has become financial capital of India, just as Delhi is political capital As no one state or community can claim exclusive right over Delhi, no one (including marathi people) can claim exclusive right over Mumbai. I tend to agree with Sanjay. Bombay was a state that was a mixture of Gujerat and Maharashtra. I wish the Indian government had left it as that. But now that the seperation has been done are we forgetting that we are INDIANs after all. If India were to be broken up in different countries and Maharashtra were to become a country then Mumbai will be a seperate country too like Singapore due to the structure and build up of a variety of cultures that reside here over a period in time. Do we want that. By causing these petty clashes we are allowing the other forces like terrorism to become stronger and we weaker and so if we do not come together we will be destroyed by them. Think people, think, do want that situation to happen. We fought the British out of India as INDIANS and not based on our various religions. Bengalis, North Indians, Parsis, Gujeratis, Maharashtrians, Muslims, and all other religions came together for the call of freedom and we won. Bomb blasts and we help each other we do not see religion then so then why now. WE ARE INDIANS and I am proud to be one. JAI HIND
