I never heard or read about Baba Amte, i attribute it to the limitation of my knowledge, but the way he worked and spent his life for the underprivilaged the downtrodded and the lepers, i am happy that i belong to such a great country where people like him have lived.

You didn't hear of Baba Amte isn't surprising, cos the great man never been the center of controversies, neither he tried to interfere with governments on any issues. He avoided to go on hunger strikes for own causes. He also wasn't hungry for fame.

He was a Magsaysay awarad winner, very few people across the world get it every year.
Was worth of getting Nobel Peace Prize

Baba Amte - "Amar rahe" 'Eeshwar aplya atmyas shanti devo hi tyache charani prarthana'.
Yes we should be happy & proud thatwe belong to such a great country where people like him have lived!!
Be positive,Practice some of his activities& leave Cynicism. For most of us here, I think he's much above 'Bharat-Ratna'. Publicise good thoughts & actions and ignore the negative side. This will help us and the country as whole. Hope most of the people will agree this....
