Understand what Raj wants to Say !
by rashmi prabhakar khedekar on Feb 09, 2008 06:47 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Dear Mumbaikars ,
If you heard Raj's elocution , you will understand the meaning. His intention might be getting that of lime light but his thinking is not wrong. After all when we will stop the intruders in Mumbai? We have to take some actions. Why only Marathi Manus should feel proud of Mumbai. Why not all? Everybody should feel proud of their motherland first and then the land which feeds and fulfills your dreams. When you are in New York, do you act there as Indian or accept that city%u2019s rules and regulations and work there as foreigners. One has to prove to the city that one did something in return for the Land which is feeding their family and giving the opportunity to perform the duties towards nation. Unfortunately Mumbai never got a Hero who could strongly fight for the City%u2019s rights. Today Mumbai is the world%u2019s best known city and India%u2019s commercial capital. This happened not because of Marathi Manus but because of the Mumbaikars !!! Then those Mumbaikars can of any caste, after all we are all Indians first. But this is also true when we are living in a state then we should make sure the local residents should not get hurt in any way. And for that I can support Raj.

A True Mumbaikar

He is gonna do nothing but try and garner some vote. I still remember him taking sides for the Juhu molestation case which has made each of ours head hang in shame. Do not get carried away with all these crap dished out. It is nothing but political vendetta. Two cousins fighting via NIs. In any case ask him whether he has ever travelled in a local train to even understand what are we facing out there. Get real open your eyes and discern real people like Baba Amte from the masqueraders like Raj. No civil society should accept it. Btw for the last decade the maximum number of influx of immigrant is frm Ratnagiri and of top 10, seven districts are frm MH itself. So are these people intruders too and if not then why are other indians?

Raj Thakray's agenda is earn crores and grab lands. He is not have any political backing and hence these issues, which is of nuisence value. You are talking about New York (for that matter whole of America).. Yes, you need to follow the rules of that country and you should also remember that America as a nation allows every religion to preach and they protect everyone, irrespective of caste, creed or religion. It is their in their federal document. On the other hand, you should also understand that Mumbai is not a country, but a state of India. Mumbai do not have separate laws and the laws of the country (india) applies to Mumbai. One should not take law in their countrol dictate terms that non-marathas should be driven away from Mumbai. If that what is going to happen, then all the marathas settled outside Maharashtra have to windup their business go back to Maharashtra. Understand that Bombay is vibrant because it is frequented by outsiders. If it is not frequented by many, it may remain like Dharbangha or some small city in other states. You want to cut the very basic of the growth of Mumbai and in that sense Mumbai will never remain as Mumbai.

Few good points... BTW, Mumbai is 'NOT' a state of India, but only a city within a state. I agree that we should not be generalizing all north indians are bad... however, if these political people like Amar Singh, M. Yadav stop acting as local politicians and work in their own state, such issue will not come up. Why the hell these leaders have to come to Mumbai and arrange rallies here? this is not their state... No politician in India comes to US, UK etc and try to arrange rallies for political gains and THAT IS THE REASON these countries are okay with Indians. If you try to mess up with their culture then even these countries will retaliate... after all everyone wants to protect their culture....

"intruder" is this a term you are gonna use for fellow indians. I think the Bangladeshis are intruders as they come from a different country, I am surprised that Raj Thackeray speaks of 20000 people on water pipelines . Majority of them are not North Indians but Bngladeshis and Kashmiri refugees. This is emminet as what we see along Bandra to Mahim pipelines. Raj thackeray defended the 12 Marathis invloved in the molestation case of new year of two NRI Gujurathi women. What do you have to sy about this. He then goes on to blame the North Indian population for the same wtihout any justification. Yet you insist of understanding the meaning of what he says. He speaks of Mumbadevi - Mumbai being derived from the Mumba devi and aai meaning mother. Have you ever been to the Mumbadevi temple ever, sad to tell you that I visit this temple very often and find (maybe) a handful of Marathis there. The priests are all North Indians and the majority of the devotees are also North Indians. What do you have to say about this.
I feel without any bias and prejudice that Raj Thackeray seems to have lost ground over his politicial career. I an born and bought up in Mumbai affluent surburb and sadly all my life actually come across just 10-15 Marathi families. Now those who I knew sold and went of.
Konkani speaking people are making a fool of Marathi people by passing off as Marathis. Even P L Deshpande turned out to be a Konkani from down south Kerala.
Its not that every Maharahtrian is

Everyone has migrated from some place or the other. The word intruder is a wrong word to use. I respect Maharashtrians. Its like this. A person doesnt have to force someone to respect him. Respect comes from within. When a person respects others, he automatically gets it. I respect each and every person, who respect others irrespective of his language, caste or religion.
