The great ghaatii culture!
by mar gaya on May 04, 2008 11:20 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

If anyone knows anything good about Marathi language and culture, please let
me know. About culture I only know of women with lungis parted in the middle
who jump and dance like anything on ghaateee channels. And about language, the
less we say the better it is. Suffice it to say that any language which has
Ikde/Tikde as words is in it is simply laughable.

What makes you that the language is laughable??? Let me tell you that the language has always bred Patriots. If it is just about the women the typical Nine yard sari then your are being too narrow minded. The language is rich. Its simply because we have never promoted it ourself. Do you know what Dnyaneshwari is?? What Geet Ramayan is??? What Warkari Community is??? Who were Dnyaneshwar (Gyaneshwar for you), Tukaram, Ramdas,Namdev??? Let me tell about some of them. Dnyaneshwar is the person who translated Geeta from Sanskrit into Marathi in the form of Dnyaneshwari. Tukaram is the one of the greatest exponents of Bhakti Movement. His Abhangs have found place in the Granth Sahib the sacred book of the Sikhs. He was also the person to go to Vaikunth alive. The only one to do so in the Medival India. This is just some part of it. And this i think is sufficient to make you realise the Greatness of MY LANGUAGE. Tell me parallels for these personalities in YOUR LANGUAGE.

Readers of this website... take an example of how Hindi-bhashi migrants disrespect Marathi language and culture.

Raj Thackeray is truly a great man for fighting against this kind of injustice done by arrogant Hindi-bhashis! This is the criminal attitude of migrants from UP/Bihar coming into Maharashtra.
