Bombay was the only port city in the western region of ancient Bharat. It was, therefore, only natural that it attracted more economic investment. Also because Maharasthra produced more national leaders in the main-stream politics, who true to the precedents being set by the national politicians, were more regionalists than nationalists. Hence, they were able to influence economic decisions in favour of the state or rather one city at the cost of development elsewhere in India. Now that it has gobbled up all benefits from a protected economy, Maharashtra cannot absolve itself from the responsibility of sharing its economic prosperity with other regions of India. Besides Mumbai being the economic capital of India needs to surge ahead to remain competitive with other developed and growing economies of the world. As such, it needs to attract skills of international standard rather than restricting itself to marathi speakers. While I am vehmently against destroying the Marathi language or the indigenous Marathi culture, efforts should be made to integrate itself with other cultures and volunteer to make the less fortunate regions and states of the country to replicate its success by promoting sustainable economic model. This is what Raj Thackrey should be doing rather than forcing people to fee. bombay was not a port in 'ancient bharat' times.it was not even a contiguous land like it is now.give credit to the brits for having reclaimed that land and having developed that into a world class port.

Please don't ask what Raj has done for his "so called" brotheren Maharashtrians!!! Lip service. That's all he is doing and that's more than enough for the "sons of the soil". The day is not too far that Bal Thackeray's goondas and Raj Thackeray's goondas fight each other in the name of Marathi people and they themselves will destroy the Maharashtrian culture.
