Religion is a must for every human whether educated or not.
Even atheism is a kind of religion.
Religion is based on some beliefs and ideologies.
Religion is meant to show a way of life. For this it lists out some rules and regulations a human has to follow. Differences in religion does not make it unnecessary.
Atheists believe that there is no life/re-birth after death. If every human is atheist then there will be high degree of immorality as everyone (with few exceptions) would think of experiencing pleasure in this world. Religion has controlled vices of humans at least to some extent.
If I have a problem/disease which I cannot solve/cure with available options in the world I can pray God. Whether my problem is solved or not at least I will get some relief/moral-strength. What will you do in that case? Fear of hell prevents/controls me committing sin to a great extent.

Idols and Ideals of Life ... People are confused and Priests make business by making people worship and so do the same in all other religions as well whether you worship a cross or nothing ...

Dear Cape, I do not agree with you. Almost two-thirds of all wars fought by man-kind were in the name of religions and non-existent gods.

As for praying, there is a saying in Malaylam, Palam kadakkuvolam narayana, palam kadannal koorayana (till you cross the bridge, you say Narayana - another name of Maha Vishnu - and after crossing the bridge, you say Koorayana (deride the god) !!!!!!!!! Atheists are more reliable than the believers when it comes to inter-personal relationship. We do not harbour any hatred for anybody based on Religion.

Physical science and god dont co exist. But when it comes to met pahysics science defines meta physics as a process of supernatural power and that is a definition of god. Think of a scenario, You got heart attack and died. I infused fresh blood , supplied amount of energy u need and protected u from infection still u cant be alive. Coz science of mechanism doesnt work with metaphysics. So u have to believe.

Secularism & democracy are the foundations of Hinduism. Caste saved India from dark days by providing some basic purpose in life. Religion is One and should be limited to Human Character and Human Values with One Common Law encouraging people to develop their Body and Mind, Emotions and Intellect, Creativity and Consciousness. The caste is a scientific concept but has been abused and distorted by confused people. It basically means that to live life intelligently we need to effectively balance the 4-forces within - Thinker, Protector, Economist, Worker - and also while governing society. This is all based on natural human intelligence. The roots of the ancient Indian philosophy which goes by the name Hinduism is actually secular, logical and universal. The idols symbolize objectives in life: Shiva (freedom), Durga (Strength), Saraswati (Knowledge), Lakshmi (Wealth), Ganesh (Wisdom). Life is God. These Goddesses are not really goddesses per se but symbolize the objectives of the pursuit of human life. All civilized societies in the world practice this in principle as it is the natural & true meaning of 'secularism' & 'humanism' followed by all. Check out, A Religion Called 'Human', for more details. Things are simple, we complicate.

This is just an attempt by educated people to invent reasons for idol worship and myths only to convince their commonsense.

I believe our ancestors must be one and the same.
Every human has intelligence.
Our ancestors had limited knowledge on science.
One cannot use intelligence properly without sufficient knowledge.
I and you have more knowledge than our ancestors had. No doubt about it.
I hope you got the point.

science and God never co -exist ....

it doenst mean that if u can't understand why IDOLS were created ,wil that mean they were mis guided ???

perhaps u should understand that they lived in absolute peace despite, in ur words, being misguided ....

what did u achieve by getting converted to a alien religion and what did my ancestors lose by sticking to Indian religions???

Hey Cape,
Let me put my disclaimer first up :" I am not a very religious person'. Well now coming to idol worship, what's wrong with it mate? Just come to think of it do people not keep photographs of their spouces/children in their wallets etc? Is it bcoz they dont know (or forget)how they look? If there was an idol of your mother kept in front of you and you were asked to spit on it(no offence plz), would u do it? anyway it's not 'your mom' instead it's 'your mom's idol'. you would not do it. it's natural for humans to seek tangible symbols and objects to get a grip on abstract concepts. In fact even in 'so called' non-idol worshipping religions like Islam and Christianity, you do find people having photos of Kaba, the crescent painted, people wearing crosses, praying in front of a cross etc., Is this not idol worship? It's just that these are very simple symbols and in Hinduism, the symbols are more rich and vivid .

Think why fanatic hindus attack secularism and cry for hindu rashtra.
Buddhism has nothing to do with hinduism. In fact hindus copied many things from buddism later on people start thinking that those concepts are original hinduism.
