UP Bihar People
by nilesh mhatre on Feb 07, 2008 01:11 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

There is no problem if people from any part of country do come to Maharashtra/Mumbai for living. But the problem with people from UP/Bihar is that they want to come here and turn Mumbai into Bihar/UP. And then they blindly follow their great useless leaders like Amar Singh, Abu Azami etc. It would have been ok if these leaders were doing great jobs in their own states. But their states are in dire state. These states are hopeless. And on top of that they come to the stable states like Maharashtra and try to say that all that you have got is because of UP/Bihar people and leaders. This is ridiculous and objectionable.

Violence in any form is not adored but if some leader taunts you continuously and UP/Bihar people continue to express faith in their idiotic laeders very few choices remains for the host state people.

Also maharashtrains are not as hard-core people as being projected in Media. If it was the case then on Marathi card Shivsena would have won all elections till date. But there is limit for everything and so is for patience of Maharashtrans.

Nilesh, you are absolutely right. Whatever you have written here is true. We are NOT against so called outsiders. We are probably the most receptive states in the Indian union and may be because of that all of our countrymen expect too much from us. And yes, there is a limit to everything. Hope our brothers from North wont push great patriot maharashtrians in the corner!

Forget about Raj, but many noted Marathi writers have expressed concerns about the culture that is being brought to Mumbai/Pune by outsiders.

Today this is happening in Mumbai, tomorrow it will be Bangalore and then Chennai and so on and so forth. EVERY INDIAN has a responsibility to respect local languages and cultures. Even if I'm visiting North or South, its my responsibility to respect their unique culture and we expect the same from others. Thats all there to this issue. Nothing more nothing less.

Most of the posts here are full of hate messages. And yah, by calling us ghati and all these guys are just helping anti nationals like Abu Azami. Request to North Indian is that they check credentials of this Abu Azmi. It was Shivsena's ghatis who protected all of the people in 1992 when Azmi's men were rioting on the streets of Mumbai. that time Sena didnt just saved ghatis but they saved EVERYONE. So, please, please don't push us in the corner. Get united, respect each other and help India progress.

Among all these posts, yours is really logical and to the point.
Just tell me one thing, do I need to know Marathi to stay in Mumbai?? Do you know Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, Bengali, Gujrati, Asamiya and all other languages???
If not, then according to your point of view how would you survive in anywhere outside your state??
Also, Mumbai being country's financial capital is a cosmopolitan. You really can not force someone to speak in your language.
Finally, those who never respect others' languages and make fun of that could be found in any state and community. Such people are neither yours nor mine, they are just craps and should be thrown that side of LoC.

I know you can't be fluent in Marathi but you can try. I myself learnt Tamil when I was in Chennai for couple years.

As for forcing languages on others, when I was in TN, railway reservation forms were in Tamil and English. There was no form in Hindi. Can you answer if that was right? We accepted Hindi as our national language and we respect that. End result is that that the leader of opposition in BMC from North has demanded that the working language of Mumbai corporation should be Hindi. Do you expect us to tolerate that? Can this be done in Chennai or in Kolkata? If NOT, then why and how in Mumbai?

Putting all eggs in one basket is wrong. Ban any new openings in Mumbai and so industrialist will open industries in other part of India.

First grow and exhibit the work culture Mumbai follows, then dream of companies in every part of India.
And I'm talking about all the people from different religions, languages and communities staying in Mumbai. It's not some community, but a city that stands out as a whole.
