I think the whole episode is blown out of proportion by the media and the posts by common people on discussion boards. The fight is mainly with Biharis and people from UP, in other words, the fight is not with the creamy layer but with those who are considered as precipitates!
The fight of Marathis is with those dehati Biharis and UP people who spit on the roads, who do not have descipline and those who do not respect the law. Forget about Marathis go and ask a Marwari and Gujrati if he would like to loan money to them, the anwer will be NO. Go and ask an engineering firm if they would like to employ an Engineer from UP/Bihar the anwer would be NO. Go and ask a bank manager if he would employ a UP / Bihari as a financial manager, the answer would be NO. Go and ask a patient if he would like to be operated by UP / Bohari doctors, the anwer would be NO. These many NOs are simply because of their own arrogant and uncivilised nature ... something that is taking toll on local population (Here, local poplation means Gujratis, Sindhis, Panjabis etc. besides Marathis). Why only Marathis? Ask your opinion about Biharis and UP people to people other than Marathis you will get to know their views, 99% of the times the way the Marathis think of them.
Marathis have always welcomed the people from other states with open hand. Marathis are well organised, well behaved, desciplined and hard working. This is reflected by the fact that we have the best universities, best engineering col

One has to understand that we are living in a democracy. Everyone has the same right as a so called "Creamy layer". Spitting/Behaving bad is not attributed to one part of the society.
Also one must not forget that, India is a free country and every citizen has the birth right to go to any part of the country he wishes.
That said, in the 70's this same propeganda was undertaken by Bal Thakarey to drive out South Indian people. Now his Newphew wants to use the same ruse, except now its Bihari's Up'ites et al.
What Raj Thakarey is doing right now amounts to fundamentalism, the same as whats happenning in Kashmir, where the Kashmiri Hindu's were driven out.

Oye Abhijit, Crazy town ke joker!don't u think u r the one who is blowing this situation out of proportion...go and get your screw tightened.
leges, best medical colleges, best road network, best business, best infrastructure, best Police force etc.
The division of work in Mumbai is still very well divided, business in handled by Gujratis and Marwaris, hotels are being looked after by Panjabis and Shettys, show business handled by Marathis, Bengalis and Punjabis, most of the salaried jobs (where descipline is most important) are handled by Marathis and South Indians. In essense, this balance has to be maintained if Mumbai were to become a world class city.
The influx of dehati Biharis and UP people is definitely not going to help and will do more harm than good.
Here the point is that to make a city better we need some constructive influx in Mumbai and not the destructive one that we are having at the moment from UP and Bihar.

He is in creamy layer friend! That's the whole point! It's very unfortunate that his house was attacked. I don't support such an incidence ... but you got the idea what I want to say ... didn't you?

Mr. Abhijit,
This is one country. We need to maintain it as one. Division in religion/states will only help outsiders/politicians to win over us.
I am a Bihari and proud to be one. I really dont agree with most your comments. I dont want to creat any divide but just answer one simple question how many marathis make it to IIT's as compared to students from Bihar/UP ?
Government doesnt focus on Bihar. Mumbai is in focus coz thats were the money is.
Please help the so called dehatis.
You can make a difference rather than abusing them.
I don't understand your comment about IIT. Friend, we have many engineering colleges comparable with IITs here in Maharashtra. And by the way I, there would be atleast 60% of students in Mumbai IIT who are Marathis! Be it BTech or MTech. I also do not beleive in dividing the country, but a benchmark is to be maintained below which nobody should be allowed to go.
I have only stated the facts, this is ground reality against the Biharis and UP people in Mumbai from all the other communities.
To improve yourselves is in your hands, we are just helping you out.

This issue is totally different from the current issue that the politicians have created. And if I may, how can you say that most people who spit on the roads in Mumbai are from outside Mumbai? Do you have any proof of that, or are you following stereotypes yourself?
The problems you have highlighted is the problem itself: we judge people by caste, religion, creed and if nothing else, their place of origin! If you have statistical proof to say UP/Biharis are unqualified then present it, but don't give the argument that people don't want to hire just because they are from UP/Bihar. The moment Mumbai starts playing regional politics will be the end of its greatness! Mumbai works because it is cosmopolitan, not because of any one class of people.
The college where I studied had a student. His name Singh or something. He once frightened a professor with a with a knife and he would carry a revolver with him all the times ... guess what ...? He was a Bihari!
It's a different matter that he was put behind the bars with local people after beating him badly. It's time to understand "When to hold and when to fold".

silly abhijit going by ur logic now the whole world knows about santosh raut(marathi my foot) who has killed thousand of innocent people by selling their kidneys. so we should assume all marathis r like him. just come out of mumbai which is built by all indians the rest of maha is worse than UP.

I'm UP wala and great supporter of Bal Thackerey. I think he was right when he had said that mumbai needs Law Like 371 to stop more influx. But Raj's seems like arrogant idiot. I'm son of central Govt. official who was posted in Mumbai. I was born here. So what does mR. Raj think of people like me. Should he kick me out too?
