fear of bird flu
by jayanth desai on Feb 01, 2008 02:17 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

we should first ascertain whether the reported death of birds is because of bird flu.there are no. of other infections or factors that cause e death of large no. of chicken.as far as consumption is concerned, it is safe to consume chicken products heated above 70 degree centigrade which most indian consumer would do,
even if it is bird flu affected bird.

i request our scientific community to develop methods at the earliest to eradicate this disease which is killing not just birds but indian rural economy too.

I agree with you Srinath. It would be good if people turn to vegetarian diet altogether and shun meat and poultry

the issue here is not whether the chicken is safely cooked or not.
being in the vicinity of these chickens, humans can acquire the flu.
agree with you, sad to see so many chickens being killed for no fault of theirs, and so inhumanely.

Anyway these chickens are for slaughtering and eating..So it does not make any difference whether they are destroyed /"culled" or slaughtered...
