The best way for the Manmohan Singh government to convince the public about its sincerity would be to conduct a 100kT fusion weapons test in Pokhran before the monsoon session of the Parliament convenes.
This would be enough to convince the Left of the independence of our foreign policy, and it will also convince BJP about the dependability of our nuclear deterence. The question is does the government have the guts to do this -- or all this talk of super-powerdom just talk.

That doesnt mean that India doesnt have uranium for Nuclear weapons. We have separated the civilian and military nuclear program in the begining and uranium for N-weapons will be kept untouched. That is for minimum detterrence.

The uranium for doing tests is not coming from the fuel of Nuclear reactors. Both are different. India alrady has stock pile of Nuclear weapons.
