please open your eyes. karunanidhi is not the all knowing all pervading one. try to think rationally and forget brahmin bashing for some time. shameless curs.
Developement must be given weightage but not at the cost of sentiments of crores of Hindus who firmly believe in Lord RAM & RAMAYANA.
Every year crores of rupees are invested in several different projects, some of them materialze while others remain on papers only.... So if the same has to happen with this SETU SAMUDRAM project, let it be like that.
Next year Govt. may levy some additional I.Tax to compensate the same, but if the Govt. goes on with this project, the DAMAGE will be far beyond expectation & control.
So better to forget the SETU Samudram project & ask karuna to start thinking abt anything else to get political mileage.
Anyways, he wont be able to be CM for the next term.

Why dont you try to destroy an obscure mosque or a church in some obscure village of TN? Because you guys & your atheism ru8ns only with Hindus. You guys only dare to hurt Hindus, whether it was your Periar or Karunanidhi burning Ramayana in the 60s, destroying Ram statues, burning Ram pictures, everything was done in the 60s by the same man. Can you imagine Karunanidhi asking for the BE degree of Allah or Jesus? No, they wont do anything to hurt the feelings of the middle-east origin religions. You guys should be ashamed of trying to profit from destroying our heritage.

Ramesh - it is very clear why Karunanidhi launches projects in Tamil Nadu. Is there any doubt in anyones mind how the Karunanidhi family became among the wealthiest in Asia? Sethusamudram project is environmentally and economically unsustainable. which fool do you think will pay thousands of dollars for a saving of just 1 hour in travel. Get your facts right before posting your comments here. I think this project is to accumulate wealth for the 4th generation onwards.

The benifit of the project is not the matter under court.The issue is only demolishing Ransethu route when other alternate route is viable. It raises the doubt when CM and central minister ( related to his personal profession) show significant urgency when is not seen in other projects. And also their hesitation in not taking alternative route.
In the interest of free flow of traffic in Marina Beach, the previous A.I.A.D.M.K. Government removed the Kannagi Statue which was erected in the mid-way of the Marina approach road. Even the then Tamil Nadu Government assured that the removed Statue will be erected in a proper place.Karunanidhi was unable to tolerate this action and created several agitations through his party. After coming to power he immediately reinstalled the Kannagi statue in the same place itself. When such was the situation, how Karunanidhi making his appeal to the several millions of Hindu community, to forget the Ram-sethu issue which is mingled in their heart.

1. This project will be a white elephant as it needed drdging done very frequently to make it fit for sailing by ships
2. Not all types of ships can pass through this canal, only the smaller ones. but, the shipping idustry trend is to move to large carriers than wasting fuel using shorter ones
3. The time advantage is not more than 20 hours. further, these ships will have to slow down when it has to pass through the small canal. So, it is not much of an advnatge, provided the kind of money one has to face
4. finally, this canal makes the ship passing through a sitting duck for terrorist activities. India can control only the Indian side. Further, as the eastern side ports in Srilanka will face some revenue loss due to this, Srilankans can mount an attack against any of the ships and blame it on LTTE
More than the fact that whether it is built by Ram or not, we should see if it is in the lomng term interest of the country, region or some small number of pockets which will earn through manipulations in the entire process
