This is the way the western colonialists dealt with their target nations when they entered into negotiations on some issues which were more important to the colonialists. But they always made it appear as if their offer was more beneficial to the natives.Infact, this is exactly how modern America was born out of systematic deceit followed by genocide, cold blooded massacre and annihillation of the natives of that land over a period of 80-100 years. Every politician, bureaucrat or diplomat negotiating with the Americans on some national level agreements or treaties must be made to read and analyse the early history of America, not all written by Americans themselves, but by others including American Indians.
As to the present 123-deal, we need a great maverick leader who will question the very basics of entering into such treaties. Should India be built only by seekers and beggars or by our own youthful intellectuals and professionals who have pride in their own independent thinking and ability to devote themselves fully to solve our own problems without all the time feeling helpless and sapped when addressing existing and emerging problems of a struggling yet growing young nation of 120 crores. We need a total paradigm shift. We need leaders in every field -political,administrative,scientific,technological,cultural,literary and what not-where they will stop looking at the US or West for seeking direction to their thoughts and actions and look within to seek our own answers.
