I agree for free power to farmers
by rama prasad on Apr 24, 2008 10:27 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Encouraging farmers is very essential. Please think.. producing grains is not simple (It is my personal experiance in my fathers land). A farmer will have to undergo lot of troubles in producing every single grain. But in return, he gets a small price from which he has to take care his family needs including education. The most precious article in the world is not Dimond/gold/platinum/dollar. It is food. But in the growing world for every person to have sufficient food to eat some one has to do farming. Because of the exhisting problems huge number of farmers are moving to cities and left farming. This is causing increase in food price. The Gov is doing write job in providing free power (Only for pump sets) to farmers. But I hate politicians who give free sarees, color TV etc to people for votes. Those people should not be elected. I vote for any one who is for encouragement for a cause like this.

Well said. I to hate parties who promises free Color TV. We need to think first about basic necessities. Free TV is not going to get you anything but Free power is going to get some food grains.

In addition to free/Subsidized power, the government should also think of Fair price for the produce, Crop insurance etc. For the family, health insurence, good education is a real need. Unfortunately no parties/ or government thinks in this angle. A good encouragement is the only way to attract people to take the Job. Imagine 5000 Rs/Month would have not made India a IT Giant. So my dear brothers please vote and pnly vote who is better irrespective of his party affiliation. For many of us this is the only way we can make India a better place to live.

Crop insurance could be a good idea for Indian farmers.Farmers take chances with nature they should be supported by everyone in a fair manner.

Idea of Crop insurance is fantastic. I don't understand why successive governments have failed to implement crop insurance countrywide.
The mechanism ,too, is very simple and administratively workable. A particular area is to be identified where crop has failed, and kisans are to be compensated according to size of farms or farm loans.

Free power means no maintenance and wastage, that ultimately affects poor farmers.

@Manjanna,
If you claim to be a farmer's son, can you give the share cost of power in all input cost. Further, by a paying a price you can force the government to regularise supply. If you are not paying you cannot force. Due to power shortage, your farms will suffer and you'll incur loss.

Dear Satyarthi.
I agree with you in part. Continuous power will surely help. But for a small and middle scale farmer power charges are really difficult to bear. especially when he grows staples as they dont fetch u lot of money. This forces the farmer to opt for commercial crops for more money to meet the needs. Then the value of grains gopes up. Then ultimately you r the sufferer. So I feel that encouragement for a cause is not a problem at all.
