Solar energy is fast becoming viable and a mass use product. Worldwide the prices of Solar PV panels are dropping and the trend is continuing.
Considering the cost of power today and the shortage and the huge demands by ever increasing shopping malls etc Indian govt. should make usage of Solar power mandatory on all commercial buildings to start with.
Even the US is fast moving towards solar power so why should we be lagging behind with the obsolete and dangerous nuclear energy ?
Most of India gets ample sunlight for at least 6-7 hours a day for most of year so why not use it instead of wasting it as heat.
Also Solar electricity can also power electric vehicles thus reducing the need for crude oil and reduce pollution.

Solar Capabilty is highly limited. With Nuclear Reactor You can talk 2000 MW per location. With Solar you can talk just 30-40 MW whole of India per year and PV cells are damn expensive , also they depend upon Day / night as well as Weather. Nuclear technology has no such restraint
