Sorry state
by Vijay on Apr 22, 2008 08:06 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I am not from Karnataka and I don't live there. However, I have traveled a lot to K'taka over last 25 years and it's sad to see what has happened of this lovely state. When I first visited Gulbarga in 1984, I saw lots and lots of trees on both sides of many roads. Trees that one sees there are less than 15% of what they used to be. Needless to even speak of Bangalore. Between 1991 and 1993, I used to stay at a friend's place in RT Nagar. One needed only a fan during the day. Even that was switched off in the night. Today, the poor fan simply churns the hot air your way. Yes, now people seem to drink more bear, they have mobile phones, more money in their pockets, wider roads, more cars and what not. Where the hell is the life gone?
