So in this article we learn that the Marathis raped women and killed unarmed civilians. But why is it surprising? This has been a historical trait of the Marathi people. For example go to the wikipedia page on Nana Rao (also called Nana Saheb). You will learn about his role in 1857 struggle during which he was exiled to live in Bithoor near Kanpur. He belonged to the Peshwa clan of Pune originally. The facts are:
i) He was drawing 80,000 pounds annual pension from the british.
ii) He first promised to support the British and then turned against them at the last moment. iii) Held british civilians (women and children included) as hostages. iv) Many of these noncombatants were killed near Sati Chowra ghat in Kanpur city. v) British women and children were killed in the bibi ghar in Kanpur city and their dead bodies were dumped in a well. Nana ordered it, but couldn't bear to see the brutality. So he left the scene so that his soldiers could finish the job.

Don't forget the Maratha Borgis, who had looted every places from Surat to Bengal. Don't forget the Peshwa of Gwalior who had helped the East India Company during 1857. Marathas as a race is a race of criminals. Shivaji was not a Maratha, he was a Rajput.
