Bank Robbers

The request of US to gain access to the Pakistan's nuclear aresenal was so silly that it did not deserve any serious comments from anyone or even a response from Pakistani officials. If US is thinking that it is setting up a some kind of a pretext for attacking Pakistan and taking over nuclear aresenal, then US is sadly mistaken.

In 2001,US was able to coerce and bluff Musharraf who was the lone decision maker,in the war against Afghanistan, for which Pakistan has suffered and paid dearly Now all decisions are made by the People of Pakistan through their duly elected representaties and under no circumstances the proud People of Pakistan are going to allow US or any other country to use its soil for military purposes or take over assets of any kind . Such irrational requests would only antagonize and infuriate Pakistanis and make job of US in Afghanistan even more diffucult. If US feels that it can pull off a fast one this time, then US is heading for a gravest miscalculation of all times.

US attacked and occupied Iraq and Afghanistan in a rash, aimless war just to get even for 9/11 attack without realizing that the condition of US inside Green Zone in Iraq and highly fortified areas in Afghanistan is no different than bank robbers who hold up a bank, make the peope inside the bank lie on their faces and then make demands upon the bank officials to deliver food ,water, money and a chopper ,while being surrounded by everyone in the city forgetting that it is the bank r

........forgetting that it is the bank robbers or US which has to go home some day and not the people outside the bank who are already home. Impoverished US Congressmen are already asking that poor Iraqies pay for the US Iraqi war.

The US has not learnt anything from 6 years experience in Iraq and Afghanistan and from losing a lengthy war in Vietnam and from USSR losing a similar war in Afghanistan .There are no military strategies which can possibly work against guerrella warfare and Vietnamese proved it convincingly. B-52s, tanks and other fancy equipments are all obsolete. This is exactly what is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan for the past 6 years. USA talks about staying 100 years in Iraq and for an undermined period in Afghanistan without realizing that each passing day,it is costing in US lives and material to no good end.Trying to involve Pakistan just does not make any sense.

Its time US should realize that any political or financial return from these two wars is very poor and it is time US to go home and spend its precious resources in tackling multitudes of problems at home and just forget about being the big machoman for a while. It would not be inappropriate for US to enter negotiations with Al-Qaeda and try to reach some sort of settlement. It is doubtful that Al -Qaeda would settle on the Palestinian issue, however at least a settlement with Al- Qaeda in Iraq and Afghanistan should be most welcome, since it would allow the weary US
