Other than Hindus no other race / culture knew counting beyond small numbers. Million, billion trillions are all of recent origin. We have words signifying numbers which are of much larger quantity. As Dr Singh (I was surprised to read such a scholarly article form A Police Commissioner) rightly pointed out the "Western Scholars" who have no knowledge of the language and no idea of this Sanathana Dharma and their Indian followers would do well to understand the scientific facts comming to light about the age of earth which correspond to the total of all the four yugas. Last but not least, religion never controlled the philosophical thoughts ( we have different philosophical schools), scientific findings (surgery, medicine, astronomy etc. Concluding equality of women was not only practised, religious functions cannot be performed by a man without his wife.

We had number system which can count both largest and smallest too. Smallest as an Atom and Largest as inifinity
