Reservation Judgement
by Ramsingh Sachan on Apr 12, 2008 05:50 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

The hon'ble Supreme Court's judgement is welcome particularly to the aspiring OBCs for admissions this year.Though ,the question of creamy layer and total 50% ceiling is reservations may disappoint many.To diffuse the hardships of the disadvantaged groups more evenly in the society, such a affirmative action was long overdue.Once the caste based discriminations are over, the need for such reservations will automatically go.The test would be the ratio of students in the colleges and employees in the jobs vs.their respective proportions in the society. As long as this remains skewed, the need for social engineering and state intervention continue. The question is why caste should remain a symbol of economic and social backwardness. The correlation in these two has no place in a democratic setup based on adult suffrage and equity of all sorts. If the restrictions of creamy layer and 50% ceiling in rservations are removed, this process of social justice may give faster returns.Otherwise, the process will remain slow, given the added hurdles imposed by the implementers. The existing corruption by way of nepotism, casteism, bribery etc.profits those who are already in power and financially strong! The reservation only partly takes care of this evil that goes grossly against the weaker sections.

Where is the implementation? The other day, Ramdoss was speaking that only 5 percent of seats have been filled as against 27 percent. Government must be forced by the people to go for an honest implementation of reservation policy.

Do you propose 100% reservation based on castes of India?

What will happen to the below creamy layer don't you think that they will never be able to come because the creamy just as in cup of tea will not let them come up ?

What is your criteria of backwardness is it just a caste even if the person is economically, socially and culturally forward?

Do you think one vote per person is alright or that has to depend on his qualifications reflecting a knowledgable suffrage?

Lastly do you accept Hindu Marriage Act ? Why our politicians do not have guts to frame a Muslim Marriage Act?
