Modifying The Reservation System
by A K on Apr 13, 2008 12:05 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

The only way in which reservation system in India could help it becoming developed is when it will be truly based on economic background of students & not on their cast or religion. Those
who have scored well in the exams should be given financial support so as they are not rejected just because they can't pay the fees.

The first step towards modifying the reservation system would be making people, who are enjoying [ Are they really? I don't thinks so ] the benefits of reservations, understand how reservations are spoiling their children's future.

If you know, that there's a reserved seat waiting for you, no matter you study well or not, would you, being an average human being, put an extra efforts in studies. No, not at all & this is what is happening to those who are enjoying reservations. Due to this gap, between those who are applicable to reservation & those who are not, is further increasing. As these people who have got reserved seats for education in India, they will not have so on the global platform & private sectors & their they will suffer. This needs to be explained to them by us , as their leaders are engaged only in grabbing votes by misleading them.

Dear Ak,

While I appreciate your sincerity and genuineness in your post, I have to bring out a basic fact which is often not understood properly.

It is not at all easy to get into any good education institution in India even if you have a quota reserved for you. One has to be still ranked at very very high rank to get place even in a reservation list. The competetion is too much that any sloppy candidate from OBC can no way get into the list. One may please refer to the Ranklists published by different RECs and PSC to see it themselves (of course if they are interested in truth).

But, while you need a very high rank to get into a reserved list it requires practically no rank to get into any private eng or medical colleges ( pls check the ranklist of the private institutions) with money power

Now this means that while those pass out from private constitutions can be of poor academic back ground and their passing out is guaranteed by means of their money power, i can tell you that those qualifies to be in a reservation quota is far far more talented than those from the numerous self financing colleges.

But the irony and the travesty of truth is that many foolishly believe ( and happy to believe ) that with the reservation quota in place it will be flooded with incapable people. They cant be wrong more..!

You have no idea about India and its social and economical problems. So, go and do some study of it before writing such a crap.
