Heres a true story...
by Anand Rao on Apr 12, 2008 10:47 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

And you all must have seen such stories around you.
I and My brother started off from a certain section of the society. The section where the so called "OBC", "SC", "ST" lived. We spent our childhood in this locality.
All was well, till my brother landed passing his 10th standard in the first class. I was still in the 8th class.
The cut-off in the college, for science, was 68% and my brother had scored 67%. He did not get admision in the College.
BUT, here was a neighbour, who got admision in the same college. At what percentage marks? Hold your breath, 38%.
WHY? You know why.
We all started from the same social background. We studied together in the same places. My brother had nothing superior to this SC fellow, other than the brain perhaps. So why did my brother did not get admission and why did he get?
And for the first time in my life the seed of hatered was sown in my little head. No, my parents did not teach me reservation, but the reservation system DID.
Cut to 2005: My brother is a MBA, PMP, etc etc and leading a successful life. One day we were travelling in our Honda City and we saw that neighbour, and guess what? All the reservation and college admission in science didnt seem to have helped him. He was standing in the BUS que!
What did the government achieve? other than planting the seeds of hatered in me?

You really think I will let my children attend schools and colleges in this country?
And let them live here?
And where did the "happiness" thingy come in from? I have mentioned the truth and I stand firm with it. I tried to make a point with my post, people can read any message from it, but the writing is on the wall!

So why are you writing in this forum ? Visit "your country's" forum and talk on issues there. All the students know what the cut offs is for general candidates, sc/st's , obcs, handicapped etc etc, everything is open, you dont need to give examples..

if you dotn live here and dont contribute to the society then you are a bhagoda and a traitor in fact. so you dont have right to discuss any issue here as we are thinking of making better use of the laws by debating the indian society and culture. you are an outsider. get lost.

You are frustrated, no point talking to you.
Not surprised if you will now get down to a cheap language. A distorted language is the sign of a distorted mind.

frustrated me.. why?
it is you who is telling stories instead of facts and logics...
i have seen brahmins being thrown out because of not performing well.
hey wait a min..
now the real story which happendwithme.
when i was in 7th class oneguy used to come first always. i joined a new schol in 7th class and met him.
he was getting marks only due to one teacher who was holding the post of temporary headmaster and was brahmins. this guy was also brahmins.
in the half yearly exams when i got more marks than him. he got an alarm and in the final year i was even close to him. head master worked nicely.
in one paper even after the marks were revealed to every one and his markes were made higher just to make them more than me...
after that we got separated. then i met him again after joining engineering.
and then he was living on tuitions. he was giving tuitions and that to he was reading books and teaching as he did not know english well.
today he is nothing, just at the same place in fact just after leaving that school he did not perform well any where the reason is he could not find any brahmin head master again.

so my story proved that brahmins are just waling on the proxy support and they dont have any brain. as per your logics. okay find. so i prove my point.

Good story. Nice to know your brother is a P*MP or whatever! Surely the "villain" in your story has better sense to use public transport and who said travelling by bus is a barometer of one's success?

man, there is not only one story, which you are talling. there are plenty of stories flooding here and there and plenty of such evidences yo can find.
should i give you example of APJ and say that these OBC muslim are great scientists and some get chance and some are just denied due to this upper cast people holding the key.
so does it prove that reservation is valid.okay...
then happy. i agree with your argument and you be happy with mine. please.
